Role Model Review
For this assignment I have chosen a leader that is in charge of overseeing the over 300,000,000 people of the United States of America, (The World Fact Book, July 2010) the 44th President of The United States of America, Barack Obama. The primary duty of the president of the United States is to make sure that all United States laws are carried out and that the federal government is run effectively. Although the president may not introduce new legislation he does hold the awesome power to veto all bills that are approved by the legislature. In addition, the president has the weighty role of commander in chief of the armed forces. As the nation's chief executive, the president oversees foreign policy, making treaties with foreign nations and appointing ambassadors to other nations and to the United Nations. He also appoints members of the Cabinet, as well as Supreme Court justices and federal judges. As you can tell the job of the president of The United States is full of responsibilities and is a job that should not be taken lightly. When president Barack Obama was elected to office in 2008 it was an election of epic proportions. That year there was not only the first African American running for president, but also the first female. After the primary elections it was clear that the race for the 44th president was going to be between Republican candidate John McCain and Barack Obama. President Barack Hussein Obama II has a story that American dreams are made of. He claims to have been raised with values from the heartland, a middle-class upbringing in a strong family, hard work and education as the means of getting ahead, and the conviction that a life so blessed should be lived in service to others. He was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961. His father was from Kenya and his mother was from Kansas. He was raised with the help from his grandparents. His grandfather served in Patton's army and his grandmother was a secretary at a bank. Barack worked his way through college with the help of scholarships and student loans. (whitehouse.gov) President Obama has claimed to be a Christian, but there has been many who would question this because of his Muslim roots. President Obama has been quoted as saying that he has attended the same Christian Church for the past 20 years. (The associated Press) This is after he was accused of being an Islamic terrorist because his father as well as his step-father were both Muslim. President Obama and his family were in fact members of The Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago until he had a disagreement with his pastor. (The associated Press) There are things that President Obama has endorsed throughout his campaign and throughout his presidency that I do not agree with. I do not agree with his issues on abortion, even though he did stop federal funding of it. I am also not a fan of his health care reform. I believe that there are other ways than what he is proposing to make sure that the American people have affordable health care and health care coverage As with any leader there will always be things that everyone dislikes and things that only some people like. This is after all a free country that is driven by freewill and democracy. Personally I can see why people would hold president Obama to the standards of a role model and even a hero. His story is truly amazing and is an example of the American dream. I however would not say that he is a perfect person to be a role model. As I mentioned before I do not agree with a lot of his policies or that he has a Muslim background. I also do not agree with the thought of a public official being thought of as a role model for children when he openly discusses his battle with nicotine. There are really none of us that are perfect, but as Christian's we are to strive to be Christ like. Throughout the past few years I have watched as president Obama has delivered public addresses and wondered if he were turning religion and faith into the same thing. The only way that he can talk about religion is to talk about his faith, but never specifically mentioning what he has faith in therefore turning faith into an irrelevant flourish of sentimentality that one can choose to wrap around social justice or dispose of completely. I feel that this is bringing religion down to the lowest common denominator. I cannot look at a man as a role model that tries to make Christianity politically correct.
Microlite Case Study Essay
Microlite S. A. is a company in Brazil that manufactures alkaline and zinc-carbon batteries. In 1992 the company was faced with a reduction of tariffs on imported manufactured goods which would mean that the international competition would increase significantly. Luiz Pinto, who was a Microlite manager at the time, was faced with the opportunity to reduce labor and manufacturing costs by closing down the plant in Guarulhos and move production to the plant in Jaboatao. The choices that Mr. Pinto was faced with were to move the Guarulhos equipment to Jaboatao or to purchase new and faster equipment. Moving the Guarulhos equipment to Jaboatao would minimize the capital investment and also increase the workflow due to the reliability of the equipment. Purchasing the new equipment would require more capital investment but reduce labor and increase production. The new tariff reductions were set to be implemented in 1995 and the problems were that Mr. Pinto had to reduce labor and increase productivity in an effort to maintain the large share of the Brazilian battery market that it currently owned. One non-production issue that Mr. Pinto is faced with is from a financial aspect. One option presented to Mr.à Pinto is to purchase new Pan-Orient equipment. The investment in new equipment would be approximately $2 million. It is unknown from the case study how the $2 million would be paid or financed. This, however, would have an impact on the decision of the stakeholders on whether to accept this proposal or not. The Current Situation The current bottlenecks in the operation of the AA battery operation at Jaboatao are the steps ââ¬Å"add paste to cupâ⬠and ââ¬Å"inspect carbon rods. â⬠These two steps operate below the required rate of production and would need to be corrected to improve productivity. In an effort to increase productivity, the Jaboatao plant should add one machine from Guarulhos dedicated to ââ¬Å"add paste to cupâ⬠production. While this solution will increase productivity, it will also increase labor required to operate the machine and additional labor would be required to inspect carbon rods. If the two bottleneck problems in the process are corrected, this would bring production up to the required 540 units per minute. One concern to Microlite is the amount of downtime that is experienced in Jaboatao. One obvious way to decrease downtime would be to simply add more machinery from Guarulhos. This would increase productivity but the company is still faced with the increased labor costs associated with the additional machinery. If I were the manager of the Jaboatao plant, I would be faced with a difficult decision. I ultimately would not want the addition al machines due to the associated costs. Instead, I would research the differences in operations of the two plants and determine what is factoring into the additional Jaboatao downtime. I would use the information to re-train employees and educate them on the Guarulhos processes and procedures. Justificationà If the Guarulhos machines are installed it can cure the bottleneck at the ââ¬Å"add paste to cupâ⬠portion of the process. Increasing the machinery will allow for the production to be increased to 540 units per minute and the bottleneck is corrected. The secondary bottleneck, ââ¬Å"inspect carbon rods,â⬠would require additional labor. It is estimated that the process would require one additional employee to increase the production of inspecting the carbon rods. The additional machinery and manpower would adequately make up for 1/8 of the production from the Guarulhos plant. Purchasing and installing the new Pan-Orient equipment seems extreme due to the significant amount of capital funds required as an initial investment. Microtel did not appear to be heavily in favor of this decision and I would imagine that stakeholders would be weary of the large investment. Moving the equipment from Guarulhos appears to be the wisest choice as it is the least expensive and drastic. The additional funds that are saved could also be used on training and machine modifications to improve machine productivity. The difference in annual expenses is large but the amounts are offset by the initial investment of the Pan-Orient equipment (See exhibit). During my evaluation I determined that the ideal transition would be to move the equipment from Guarulhos to Jaboatao to increase productivity and reduce downtime in the process. The Pan-Orient equipment is a good investment for the future but does not appear to be the right decision now. There could be a smoother transition in the future by introducing the Pan-Orient equipment at later time.

Recruiting and retaining the right People Essay
Introduction For this assignment I have been asked by the human resources manager to assist him in the preparation for the recruitment of staff in the finance department. This is because they took in the notice that Iââ¬â¢m currently studying for an extended diploma in Business. My first task will be to create a visually appealing leaflet describing the documentation needed in the recruitment process for a finance worker. My second task will be to prepare a list of employability, personal and communication skills required for working as a finance officer. I will need to write a supporting statement stating the skills I possess which will make me suitable for the job. My final task will be to prepare a report, assessing the importance of employability and personal skills in the recruitment and retention of staff in the accounts department. Recruitment process for a finance officer Finance officer- A finance officer is in charge of receiving and distributing funds. The recruitment process for a finance officer needs a specific type of documentation in order to be effective, documentation such as application forms, CVs (curriculums vitae) personal statements and job descriptions. An application form is very important as it provides vital information from the applicants to the business. An application form includes the personal details of the applicants such as name, age, address etc. It also includes other type of information such as right to work in the UK, criminal history etc. CVs are written description of a personââ¬â¢s work experience, educational background and skills (This includes employment history and qualifications such as GCSEââ¬â¢s and university degrees). Personal statements include aà general description of a personââ¬â¢s life and current situation. Itââ¬â¢s a brief description of character where applicants are usually required to state why they are suitable for the job and what skills they possess- similarly like a cover letter. A job description is another important documentation as it describes the role of job. This makes applicants aware of what they are required to do and what skills they need to possess (This way they know if theyââ¬â¢re suitable for the job or not). Examples of finance officer applications can be found on the internet. Skills required for working as a finance officer Employability Skills: Communication skills( writing, oral and non-verbal) There are three different types of communication skills, writing, oral and non-verbal. Writing skills involves been able to read in a fluent way and to be able to create good pieces of writing (high level vocabulary). Oral involves been able to make decent presentations which can influence other peopleââ¬â¢s opinions; it also consists of having good listening skills (to be able to take criticism and listen to other peopleââ¬â¢s opinions). Non-verbal involves having a good body language and suitable appearance (look responsible and organised). Team work To create a good work environment by cooperating with each other Problem solving To be able to come up with solutions and wise decision Planning and organising To be organised and prepared for anything Computer skills To be able to work with computers especially when carrying out accounting activities Supervision skills To be able to supervise and manage other employees effectively Accounting and bookkeeping skills To be able to manage money and to keep records of the financial affairs of a business Stress and time managing skills To be able to keep stress levels low and manage time effectively by meeting deadlines and be hardworking. Personal skills Respectful To possess cultural awareness and sensitivity Honest and trustworthy Be flexible Demonstrate sound work ethics Supporting statement I believe I am qualified to work as a finance officer due to the following reasons. Iââ¬â¢m a very responsible person because I never leave pending work for last minute. I always give my best by working hard in any type of activity. I respect other people and Iââ¬â¢m aware that some people have different cultures and beliefs which is why I always try to be sensitive and tolerant towards others. The only thing I demand from employers is respect and good listening skills as it can bring out the full potential of a company. I have many computer skills because Iââ¬â¢ve been involved in many IT activities during year 11 (secondary school). In fact Iââ¬â¢ve worked with computers since I was a child, which is why I have a general knowledge about computers and software. I also possess leadership skills due to previous experiences where Iââ¬â¢ve been assigned to manage many clubs in my secondary school. This experience eventually helped me a lot as it gave me the knowledge to come up with solutions in general. On top of that Iââ¬â¢m currently studying level 3 extended Diploma in Business and I have 6 GCSEââ¬â¢s qualification including mathematics and geography which I believe will help me cope with this department and lead this company to success. Importance of employability and personal skills in the recruitment and retention of staff in the accounts departments Employability and personal skills are very important when it comes to recruitment and retention of staff in the accounts department. People that work in the accounts department are highly required to possess computer and bookkeeping knowledge. Without employability skills employees wouldnââ¬â¢t be able to cope with difficult situations that might occur in the workplace. Employability skills help creating a good work environment which improves cooperation within the employees. It also improves team work which is beneficial to theà company. Almost all modern workplaces need their employees to communicate well with each other, their supervisors or managers, and their customers or service users. It is impossible for companies and organisations to offer a good service to their customers or service users, unless their employees work as a team and communicate. More jobs need workers who have the skills and ability to use numbers, computers, telephones and the written word to get things done. About ten years ago for example, It may have been possible to do a basic practical job, using job-specific practical skills learnt at work, without using any reading or writing skills. Increasingly, all workers doing practical jobs now have to use literacy skills to keep records and follow instructions. Perspectives On Managing And Organizing Education Essay
Experiential larning provides a phenomenon where direction as a acquisition procedure is applied for single workers, squad edifice and organisational constructions ( Bartik 2001 ) . It provides a holistic and dynamic attack in direction through entrepreneurial acquisition, scheme preparation, job resolution, decision-making and leading. Experiential acquisition as applied in direction has hence been instrumental in planing managerial instruction plans, developing and development. It is peculiarly important in determining the behaviour of persons with regard to existent experiences that they go through at their several workplace in relation to their personal ends and aims. Employees are motivated to work at the organisational degree by the grade to which their personal and calling aspirations are applied. The direction of different organisations hence needs to actuate their employees by making an environment that promotes their public assistance for the common benefit. The acquisition manners utilised towards beef uping direction in organisations benchmark both the experiences of directors and work force ( Brockett & A ; Merriam 2007 ) . It is every bit of import that personal acquisition manners are le in the procedure of geting dynamic cognition and preparation. Through entrepreneurial acquisition, cognition is acquired which is so complimented by the assimilating phases that includes scheme preparation. Entrepreneurial acquisition incorporates ways of working chances that are good to both workers and the direction. Persons are benefit from experiential larning in direction by constructing the capacity to place jobs in their lives after which declarations are designed to work out them based on the existent challenges that follow the implicit in experiences. In pull offing organisations, the leading seeks to work out jobs which interfere with the end product of their concerns. The acquisition styles that steer the procedure are benchmarked on a proper apprehension of the managerial behaviour, squad edifice and organisational construction. Individual are able of geting cognition through a careful observation of their experiences in add-on to their interaction with their milieus. Peoples are so in a place to measure their experiences in life in order to do of import determinations meant to work out their jobs. Since acquisition is a procedure of geting cognition, the procedure of interrogating day-to-day life experiences from the position of one ââ¬Ës ends and aims so invent his/her individuality consequently ( Moon, 2004 ) . Peoples are so directed in their lives by the subsequent picks that they make to react to the accompanying challenges. Experiential larning hence establishes an luxuriant agencies of transforming experiences into cognition which is appropriate to single aspirations. Learning in general seeks to enlarge the cognition base of information. This requires that the information is stored for future mention or otherwise memorized. The accomplishments and facts acquired during the learning procedure should authorise scholars in work outing their day-to-day jobs through using them suitably. Persons have a natural ability to larn from their experiences ( Griffin, 2003 ) . It therefore explores a method of obtaining information by larning from experiences. The cognition is so acquired and transformed to work out jobs that persons have every bit good as the environmental concerns. Experiential acquisition is a uninterrupted procedure that incorporates the experience with theory, contemplation every bit good as solutions. Experiential acquisition is based on the rule that persons learn better from their personal experiences. People ââ¬Ës actions in this theory are more of import than what they have been taught ( Moon, 1999 ) . It hence employs a learning procedure that is self fulfilling and gratifying in order for the scholars to confront the challenges suitably. It besides empowers the persons with the ability to go originative and advanced. The theory of experiential larning hence based on firsthand experience and observation. Contemplation in experiential acquisition is really critical ( Silberman, 2007 ) . I t provides the nexus between the existent life experiences and theoretical constructs. Participants in the acquisition procedure are given an chance to interact with each other with an purpose of larning from one another. An person is besides expected to measure his advancement within the squad with a position of developing oneself at the terminal. This is peculiarly utile larning since it equips persons with the possible to grok thoughts easy. This is due to the fact that workers are engaged in several activities at the same clip. As a consequence they require such group activities to animate their acquisition procedure with upper limit end product out of each session ( Hillier, 2002 ) . This is besides because the professionals are able to interact with the acquisition phenomenon firsthand from familiar experiences that could steer their contemplation. Both the content of the acquisition procedure and the relevant experience that is applicable to the scholar are explored. The immediate personal experience provides the foundation for acquisition because it provides a familiar relationship to the theoretical constructs being discussed. Any new thoughts being discussed can hence be verified against these known experiences for their cogency ( Brockett & A ; Merriam, 2007 ) . The experiences can besides be understood better through a witting contemplation. Experiential acquisition is typically a uninterrupted procedure that combines existent touchable experiences through contemplation to academic theories in order to calculate current and future events. This may include the procedure of larning about market and corporate kineticss for the end of forming and pull offing concerns. No instructor is involved but the scholar additions knowledge by interacting with the environment straight thereby being able to do personal finds without looking at others ââ¬Ë experiences ( Moon, 1999 ) . In order for the scholar to profit from this sort of exposure instruction, he/she should be able to take part proactively in the experience. Another basic constituent entails the scholar ââ¬Ës possible to reflect on each and every item of the experience ( Nasta, Gray & A ; Gray, 2000 ) . In order to grok the experience to the full, the scholar should possess critical fact-finding accomplishments in order to examine the issues being experienced. Then the scholar needs to hold the accomplishments to cover with hard scenarios every bit good as doing wise picks. This is really utile in authorising the scholar with the possible to work the experiences involved in existent life state of affairs. This becomes even more indispensable to directors and their subsidiaries alike who find the experiences a feasible resource stuff for mention when work outing daily jobs every bit good as doing life determinations. However, these experiences can be to the full utilized if they are understood within the context of formal larning otherwise general experiences may stop up being applied wrongly ( Doyle, MacDonald & A ; Leberman 2006 ) . Therefore experiential acquisition on its ain may take to generalisations, stereotypes and bias when scholars make decisions from their experiences. On the manus, experiential larning becomes really utile in assisting persons educate themselves about their best manner to run into personal demands, wants and demands through direct experience. Persons take parting in this sort of acquisition should possess personal enterprise and regular rating of their experiences in order to efficaciously prosecute in the procedure. The procedure requires that scholars at the inset set their ends and aims which are meant to steer them in measuring their experiences. Evaluation entails doing relevant observations, contemplation and the ultimate determination devising. There is besides a constituent of enjoyment in experiential larning characterized by athleticss and games ( Zounkova D, Franc & A ; Martin, 2004 ) . The serves to maintain the lessons obtained in the acquisition procedure for a good period of clip. The societal forums created by the athleticss encourage squad work, communicating and leading. When scholars are personally involved in the experiential acquisition procedure, they are able to appreciate their endowments and gifts within a communal and gratifying scene. As a consequence, those easing the experiential acquisition should be rather surpassing in footings of prosecuting the scholars in procedure to the full. This demands that the facilitator provides leading by active engagement every bit good as promoting the squad members to work the environment to the upper limit. They should brainstorm the heads of their co-workers to believe in tandem to the set ends and aims. Emphasis is hence put on an person ââ¬Ës personal growing and development through escapade in the mark environment ( Hillier, 2002 ) . The attack seeks to authorise the personal rational, emotional, physical and religious well-being. The person ââ¬Ës senses are put to pattern in the acquisition procedure prosecuting the encephalon, the eyes, the bosom, the lingua and the custodies. This means that the whole being of a individual is engaged in a holistic acquisition procedure. Persons so interact with each other constructing relationships and furthering character development and individualism. This signifier of acquisition is peculiarly effectual in grownup acquisition and direction. The grownups have fundamentally gained experience in the immediate yesteryear which is relevant in experiential acquisition procedure when covering with present challenges. Tangible experience is related to theoretical constructs through contemplation and dynamic tests ( Moon, 1999 ) . The grownup scholars utilize their immediate experiences through acute observation and brooding thought to pull relevant constructs about the past events in their finding of future programs. The four phases are integrated procedures that follow each other in the experiential grownup larning procedure. Learners are invariably involved in set uping personal experiences that are related to the current environment being evaluated within a societal cultural apparatus. This properly defines the best position to prosecute in womb-to-tomb learning procedure. It provides a forum for the grownups to develop the society through their personal experiences in position of the current challenges. Experiential acquisition besides provides an chance to develop the grownups ââ¬Ë callings after their formal acquisition in schools. Their work experience is peculiarly of import when seeking for publicities at their workplace and leading in the society as an chance to foster their callings. The procedure of experiential larning hence develops a individual ââ¬Ës overall mentality and societal relevancy. This manner of acquisition is really of import in finding the sequence of events in a peculiar state of affairs particularly when discoursing possibilities of work outing a job. From this form of events, a general shaping rule can be established to explicate the state of affairs ( Silberman, 2007 ) . The actions that characterize the response to the state of affairs and several other related events provide the implicit in rule. When a similar state of affairs arises or some other related scenario, this rule is applied in specifying the stairss which can be exploited to work out them within that context. This is an of import signifier of larning to grownups particularly those in direction places. This is because they are able to do wise judgements by transporting out a critical contemplation on issues based on old experiences in direction. The grownups are able to expect future results by linking similar actions that occurred in their past experiences at work or in societal forums. Despite of this baronial acquisition procedure, the generalisation of issues may take to erroneous decisions which could damage the credibleness and unity of peculiar cover determination devising processs ( Griffin, Holford & A ; Javis, 2003 ) . Above all, scholars in direction have their ain strengths and failings which they are familiar with. This when coupled to their ain experiences which they are easy for them to use, forms a comfy acquisition atmosphere to derive personal cognition. Management as a acquisition procedure besides exploits relevant experiences that are practical in nature such as the application of larning manners by portfolio directors in investing banking. The implicit in attack seeks to analyze the mode in which the portfolio directors are able to use the subsequent job resolution and determination devising accomplishments in forming assets in their portfolios ( Checkoway 2007 ) . The investing subdivisions of a bank which are usually demanding in footings of the big discretional histories and clients with a hazard disposition so steer the investing directors in determination devising. They really achieve the position utilizing suiting larning manners such as active experimentation and concrete experiences in rapprochement of histories. On the manus, other subdivisions of a bank such as the personal trust section with lower public presentation and hazard outlooks every bit good as fewer discretional histories so inform the directors on larning manners that incorporate brooding observation and active conceptualisation in determination devising. The several directors with acquisition manners face-to-face to each other had different experiences in their direction acquisition ; the concrete directors preferable people in the signifier of fellow workers, agents and business communities in their direction portfolios. Abstract directors on the manus obtained information relevant in their sections through analytical informations from beginnings such as company reappraisal and economic analysis ( Pettigrew 2003 ) . The concrete directors really preferred information that was utile in doing specific recommendation to a job with regard to investing banking. It was besides deserving observing that abstract directors arrived at a decisive decision from beginnings of information that they could straight analyse with regard to investing dimensions. As a consequence, abstract directors have a inclination to utilize so much information in their analysis in order to get at a determination as compared to their concrete opposite numbers in the same investing banking ( McGill & A ; Weil1989 ) . A situational analysis reveals that experiential larning in investing banking enables directors to be sensitive in their feelings towards other people particularly their clients and other stakeholders who matter in their plans. This really empowers them with an open-minded attack in their lives and managerial callings. This is so followed by job analysis with regard to investing state of affairss which so strengthens understanding in work outing jobs. The principle follows a position that recognizes people ââ¬Ës ideas and feelings in order to set up of import sentiments to be made that decide direction challenges. Those persons that participate successfully in this analysis develop a character profile with of import values such as forbearance, equity and resourceful thought. The subsequent experiences are utilized in solution analysis where possibilities are created for practical solutions to underlying following the precedency already established in the old phases. A solution analysis hence generates solution every bit good as their application in deciding jobs ( Sheth & A ; Eshghi 2008 ) . In this procedure, people are prefer rational logical thinking as opposed to mere feelings every bit good as set up theories related to underlying state of affairs ( in this instance investing banking ) than look intoing established facts. Directors are concerned with systematic organisation of issues, quantitative analysis and theoretical use of constructs in concern. As a affair of fact, the ensuing result of their idea forms follows a rigorous standard of analysing thoughts and later organizes their systems in investing portfolios for the common benefit of the concern and clients. What follows so is the execution analysis which is characterized by the procedure of placing undertakings that are portion of the solution analysis into a logical program characterized by relevant clip frames with appropriate rating schemes. Mechanisms are established to promote clients for case to put more in stocks and to mortgage installations alternatively of pyramid strategies that could put on the line their pecuniary additions in unbarred ventures. Directors who are able to interrogate issues to this degree derive practical cognition of their concern challenges and state of affairss that confront their dynamic markets ( Partin 2008 ) . These directors finally obtain practical applications of their theoretical cognition in order to act upon fellow co-workers. In kernel the directors taking advantage of active experimentation happen it easier to use abstract solution to their jobs and their organisations. In the universe of investing banking, the directors are able to innovatively plan practical solutions through a situational analysis and the subsequent execution protocols. They are really capable of taking manageable hazards in order to accomplish their ends and aims in add-on to their passion to see an impact of their Bankss in the surrounding environment ( Griffin, Holford & A ; Jarvis, 2003 ) . Through corporate societal duties, the directors are capable open uping local investing into enterprises that lead to poverty obliteration. They are influential in converting managers on of import council chamber determinations that create investing enterprises for other corporate every bit good as little and average endeavors. Since experiential acquisition follows a paradigm that values squad edifice, directors who are donees of the preparation value the part of their co-workers in benchmarking concern investings related to banking every bit good as research and development of their portfolios towards competitory advantage in the market ( Hillier 2002 ) . Team constructing characterized by larning from one another ââ¬Ës experiences enables for self rating and brainstorming techniques to be applied with a high grade of answerability and transparence. In order to larn from diverse experiences in a squad, the squad really builds itself from constructive duologue which allows for members to reflect about their single experiences together. As a consequence of contemplation, preservation and corporate duty and active question of single experiences, practical solutions can be created for the benefit of the full society. Members are encouraged to interact as equals in group treatments where they brainstorm on issues in their environment and peculiarly in their investing Bankss. The groups every bit do research in their niche markets on their clients with leading from directors with diverse experiential acquisition in order to incorporate dynamic thoughts in determination devising ( Moon 2004 ) . The directors are able to help the squads to develop an image unique to their organisation by spearheading a corporate treatment on different members ââ¬Ë experiences. As a consequence of the fruitful treatments, the directors are able to transfuse in the squad some sense of corporate duty in the subsequent determinations that affect their organisation. In kernel, the directors integrate in the workers through responsible leading, an apprehension that all of them belong to the company and their aspirations and ends in life every bit affair ( Silberman 2007 ) . Investings in the bank are more likely to better when the employees are trained to believe in the vision and mission of the organisation every bit good as guided on how to incorporate their single experiences and aspirations into the broader image of the investing authorization. For case, the workers ââ¬Ë calling aspirations can be developed more suitably when the bank through squad edifice recognizes endowments and capablenesss of its staff in their determination devising procedure. Monetary awards are non plenty in actuating the bank workers to execute better and honest in their projects. The workers ââ¬Ë household and calling aspiration is fundamentally a major ingredient of their direct experiences which could act upon the overall end product of the organisation. The directors fundamentally provide the executive consciousness required to steer the interaction procedure within the squad with maximal regard and focal point ( Nasta, Griffin & A ; Gray 2000 ) . It is of import that the workers are guided into fruitful deliberations with a batch of regard with one another ââ¬Ës experiences. When the civilization of common regard is developed in the squad, members become receptive to their co-workers points of position which so lead to proper contemplation on the subsequent determination for the common growing and development of everyone. The squad really develops into a acquisition system with members have a maps that contribute towards continuing the aims of the squad. The directors are left to monopolise leading alternatively they are portion of the squad which assumes shared leading with personal demands being integrated into the squad ââ¬Ës ends. The functions assigned to team members revolve around the investing banking portfolio with others being information searchers, coordinators and others could function as criterions compositors, compromisers, encouragers and group perceivers ( Zounkova , Franc & A ; Martin 2004 ) . Members really preferable executing those undertakings which they were familiar with or otherwise interested in. Despite of this, they were motivated by the squad spirit to execute some responsibilities for the best involvement of the group. As a consequence, the group provides a hospitable infinite for calling growing and expertness among its members. The procedure of experiential acquisition in direction of the banking industry besides allows for the creative activity of occupations through enlargement of concern chances to the young person. The investing portfolio is hence guided by its part to the society as a consequence of the fruitful deliberations that involve the full members of the community. The banking involvements in furthering fiscal growing in the environing community is paramount and squad edifice ensures that the merchandises provided by the establishment ( Silberman 2007 ) . For case husbandmans can be financially empowered through loans that enable them to purchase farm inputs such as seeds and fertilisers in order to guarantee that the end product of their agricultural green goods is sustainable with high net income borders. Students can every bit be supported through experiential acquisition to develop a holistic attack in calling patterned advance. The Bankss are every bit positioned good to widen educational loans and grants to the pupils with minimum involvement rates for their common benefit. Management as a acquisition procedure is hence sustained as a procedure of accommodating to the day-to-day challenges that confront the society particularly in elating their life criterions. Action Plan affecting economic research Economic research is of import in finding the extent to which the benefits of an industrialised economic system are to both the urban and rural scenes. Economic determinations are ever made by political leaders in authorities and people in direction ( Bartik, 2001 ) . Since most of the industries are based in urban scenes, there is sporadic rural-urban migration taking to congestion in major metropoliss. The limited resources particularly in lodging, infinite, employment and sanitation have lead to an addition in the degree of poorness every bit good as an addition in condemnable activities. Directors hence need to take advantage of the available statistics which demand for increased support into urban centres with a position of bettering the societal installations in order to avoid wellness hazard from happening ( Bartik, 2001 ) . Facilities such as schools, infirmaries, prisons and societal amusement articulations require periodic rating and upgrading in order to back up the increasing populations. The authorities may every bit see set abouting economic plans which promote private concerns in order to cut down poorness degrees and empower personal investings in coevals of employment. Such little and average endeavors are managed by people with small preparation in concern direction. In what ways does Kathryn Bigelow undermine the conventions of action Essay - 1
In what ways does Kathryn Bigelow undermine the conventions of action cinema - Essay Example hall pay special attention to Point Break, as we seek to find out the various ways in which failed to adhere to the conventions of action drama in the drama. To begin, several critics have argued that the cast chosen by Bigelow prohibits the movie to be considered as an action movie. This is attributed to the fact that action movies as that time were expected to manifest pugnacious super-masculinity in the kind of super-muscled stars such as Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Having such characters in an action movie would give the film its ââ¬Ëactionââ¬â¢ status a meaning. However, Bigelow deviated from the norm of action movies and decided to cast Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves, both of whom were linked to other roles (Bigelow). For instance, at that time, Reeves was casting as slacker-dude and a boy-man while Swayze was casting as a dancer and oily lover. It is evident that both of them lacked the masculine look that characterized male characters of action movies. Bigelow also centered the movie on extreme sports in in many scenes where she could have incorporated action sequences. In an action movie, one expects to see several scenes of shooting and car-chases. However, in Point Break, the director laid emphasis on skydiving and surfing to provide main action set pieces. It is also worth noting that ââ¬Ëextreme sportsââ¬â¢ as an extension of action movies was unknown as at that time. In this case, it can be considered that the movie did not clearly portray the conventions that are characteristic of action movies. Action movies were also centered towards the notion of police fighting the bad guys and arresting them. However, in Point Break, we see something that is of the contrary to this convention. Johnny while pursuing the ââ¬Å"Ex-Presidentsâ⬠after their botched robbery, he had clear shot of Reagan, one of the thieves, to the extent that he locked his eyes with him; he failed to collect himself together to shoot; thus, leaving Reagan to escape
Performance of Senior Executives in a Firm Essay
Performance of Senior Executives in a Firm - Essay Example Interestingly though, the changing times have never seen difference of opinion in one particular area; how the masses criticize their bosses at large! One major factor which generates such opinion is the considerable difference in remuneration and perks for the higher ups, which are always in sharp contrast with their subordinates. Hereunder shall be a discourse of how examples from a very different arena of sports, can be successfully extrapolated to reconstruct the work infrastructure of the top-level management. In psychology, the core theories of behavior modification revolve around the concept of reward and punishment. And this being the primary science that studies human behavior, much can be applied from it unto the realm of economics. Organizational psychology and workplace economics in any setting, therefore, is incumbent upon the fact that people work because of their motivation and incentives. Regardless of passion and loyalty, the primary needs of a person have to be fulfilled in order for him to perform beyond the ordinary. Incentives, here, play the role of that little 'extra' spice that is added to life; something more that the employee and the organization are looking forward too and yearn to achieve. At this point in time, it is important to consider the Directorial level of the organization both as human beings, and as employees of the organization! For a small child, a toy or a candy can play the role of a potent incentive. Obviously, the adult human demands for much more than that. Nonetheless, the primary role that is played by any incentive-providing-stimulus is the same - it generates more interest in a person, and the overall productivity of work increases. But here, an interesting fact must be considered. The same child, if knows, that no matter how much he cries or yells he will get the toy, the incentive factor diminishes to a negligible level. However, when the same toy is presented to him on accord of providing a disciplined stance, or taking his supper on time, than it acts as a positive incentive and concrete behavior modification can be seen. Exactly on the same principle, if any employee of an organization, regardless of seniority level, knows that come what may, the actual increment in pay and perks will be there, than it is much too obvious that the productivity shall not be the same. However, when a realization is set into the individual that increments shall be performance-based, than we see a positive vector definition for work by the individual, which provides a symbiotic benefit to the organization. Now here, focus is required upon the top-level management. The aforementioned theory is generally applied on subordinates in all organizations at large - do good work and get good pay. Yet, contrary to the theoretical norms of economic and organizational management, the Mangers are kept out of this 'struggle for work'. Once a person is in the higher ranks, it seems predestined that the ladder will only go up, much in the manner of an escalator! This not only creates a bias and division in understanding of human workplace ethics, but also creates unrest in the minds of lower-levels in the firm. (a) Analogy from Payment Systems for Jockeys Though some top managers may find it bizarre to be compared to race jockeys, yet the

Many see globalization as an opportunity for international business, Essay
Many see globalization as an opportunity for international business, but it is claery a threat.Do you agreeExplain your answer with reference to the economic performance of so called BRIC countries - Essay Example Finally, the study will draw a conclusion based on these analyses. Globalisation is associated with economic growth, international business and financial market. It refers to a cross-border increase in free movement of services, products, labour and financial capital (Magazine, Inc., 2011). It is mainly driven by the flow of technology and ideas across the border. Globalisation can be examined from different perspectives such as economic, political and social perspectives. Also, globalisation is evaluated using four dimensions such as personal contract, political commitment, technological connectivity and economic arrangement (Beausang, 2012). Based on these globalisation perspectives different countries are ranked differently and score differently under various aspects. This implies that an individual country cannot score highly in all dimensions of globalisation. According to Leaders Magazine, Inc. (2011, p.68), ââ¬Å"globalisation has a real impact, creating both opportunity and risk.â⬠As countriesââ¬â¢ economies expand in size and growth rate, they increase their relevance in the world economy demanding for robust political expression that matches their economic status. Despite the challenges of globalisation, many countries have benefited a great deal from engaging in trade relations with international nations. Globalisation is one the trends of the 21st century which is characterised by escalating web of connections between the developing and the developed countries of the globe steered by rapid transnational development (Chen & De Lombaerde, 2014). Technological advancements and declining transport and communication cost have intensified collaboration between international communities. Globalisation has influenced all aspects of human lives including social, political and economic aspects (European Union, 2012). The effects of globalisation on business are of more significance in this study. Various studies have established various

Critical Review - HIA for future development - Essay Example lia may be sufficient in catering to the peoplesââ¬â¢ water needs, however, the utility of treated wastewater in these catchments seems to be more feasible in meeting the rising demands for safe water, while at the same time, safeguard the general health of the public. Rationale for the Proposed Project. Adelaide is just one of the regions in Australia that is paying the high price of economic progress. As emphasized in a research, this city is generating its water supply from distant sources while its wastewater disposal is overly increasing in volume (Richard and Budgen 2008, 6). The situation experienced shows that a necessity for a sustainable water source is crucial. With the help of the proposal in recharging dams with treated wastewater, water supply can be replenished. Aside from this, the necessity of decreasing wastewater pollution also needs to be addressed. This project, then, hits two birds in one stone. It not only meets the increasing challenge of depleting water supply, the method of divesting the city from volumes of wastewater can also be settled lawfully. Process and Materials Utilized. Generally, wastewater is ââ¬Å"discarded water ... from sanitary or foul sewageâ⬠(Aswthanarayana 2001, 159). With this, one needs to be reminded that this type of water source is already contaminated with several microorganisms and chemical substances. The probability of recycle can only increase by subjecting volumes of wastewater in several treatment stages. Numerous phases are employed for safer wastewater sources: ââ¬Å"pre-treatment, mechanical or primary, biological or secondary, tertiary and quarternaryâ⬠(Barcelo and Petrovic 2008, 3). Each treatment line is necessary for a potable water distribution in households (please see Figure 1, Appendix A). The pretreatment phase involves the removal of large particles through a programmed machine. This task is continued in the secondary phase, with its combination of physical and chemical procedure prior to the

Case Effective law office solutions, INC - Essay Example Given the threat of existing rivals, the company ought to strategize and change customer relations which have been marked as the key cause of the deterioration. The current strategy of ELOS embraces more on advertising and sales promotion. The management has overlooked quality assurance and customer satisfaction and thus the failure. Note that the management has already noticed an increase in the number of complains. Markedly, lack of precise mode of receiving customer feedback has worsened the situation. As a counter measure, ELOS can consider instilling Customer relationship management (CRM) harmonizes sales, marketing and customer service (Goldenberg, 2008). Customers differ, have different tastes and expectations and thus the only way to satisfy them equally is to give them an opportunity to actively participate in decision making. Itââ¬â¢s to my opinion that, an online platform that is managed from the main head-quarters can build a strong customer rapport. Essentially, the customer buyer interface should set standard that ensure high quality communication skills as well as accuracy and consistency of information. ELOS, marketing has been marked as successful and thus the management needs to shift some effort towards quality assurance. Legal offices need quality as most of their printings are official documents forwarded to their seniors. The clients need to maintain their reputation and a thus will put off any less quality printing regardless of the previous experience with the company. Therefore, ELOS ought to capture each clientââ¬â¢s experience with immediate effect and correct if need be. Notably, a fault spreads more than a good doing (Johnston, & Marshall, 2013). Therefore, ELOS services should be focused on the customer needs rather than the organizations objectives. Quality should never be compromised with cost. Poor customer relation and quality deterioration has been marked as the cause of sales

Identify and discuss two nutrition problems facing america and 2 recommendations to lwer the risk and health coasts associated with these issues - Essay Example Eating a balanced diet is a nutritional value that the Americans have ignored or do not follow, thus the rising economic and individual costs on healthcare. Past researches portrays that restaurants have increased due to the increase in demand for food and drinks from the Americans who do not like cooking and not observing the need for balanced diet. These poor nutritional habits are the cause of many deadly diseases that are expensive to maintain thus the need for the essay to discuss some of them. Obesity and diabetes are the major illnesses caused by poor nutrition habits that affect most of the American citizens and they facilitate the emergence of other chronic diseases (Duggan, Watkins, & Walker, 2008). Obesity is a body mass index (BMI) that is greater than 30 kg/m2 and it is caused by overeating and consumption of food rich in fats. Obesity and over weight is increasing at an alarming rate in the U.S. and this disease has led to the government increasing its resources on this disease to $150 billion. In the past 30 years, obesity and overweight have increased and currently more than 60% of the adults are either obese or overweight. Psycho Shower Scene Analysis - Essay Example It begins by focusing exclusively on the victim, generating a faint underlying suspicion that she may be being watched. Through a series of close up shots, the camera picks up on the characterââ¬â¢s pensive frame of mind, offering a hint that she may be engaged in illegal activity when she tears up a paper from her diary on which she had been jotting figures and decides not to throw it into the dustbin. The shots focusing on the victim throwing the pieces of torn paper into the toilet and taking off her robe before stepping into the shower are replicated at the end of the scene, where after she is murdered, the camera focuses on her robe which will never be worn and the side table in the room, where the notebook she was writing on has disappeared, suggesting the reasons why she was killed. The actual murder is depicted in a series of fast cut, close up shots where the shower head that is sending out its streams of water is the single constant element. At the beginning of the sequence, the camera captures the fountain of water from the shower head in an upward angled shot, which is immediately followed by a shot of the victim smiling and enjoying the water spray. The Director follows this up with a series of shots of the victim soaping herself, but her eyes gradually close in each following shot, as if to underline the fact that she is moving from a happy, contended state to one where she is closing off the dangers that exist in her immediate environment. The appearance of the murderer is achieved through a series of shots focusing on a shadow in the shower curtain that grows darker and more clearly defined as the attacker moves closer. The Director chooses to use a silhouette shot on the attacker, in order to conceal his/her identity, while confounding the viewer at the same time because the silhouette appears to be a woman. The Director films the victim with her back turned to the attacker and has her turn at the very last

Property Law - Essay Example Therefore only a genuine owner of a property can actually sell, transfer or dispose of it1 and this suggests that Colonel Cadwallader is the person with the right to sell the violin, not Bill Sykes. The same principle is also stated reiterated in the law regarding sales2 so that a buyer who purchases a property from a seller who does not have necessary authority from the actual owner, or an acquired consent from the real owner after the sale has been finalized, does not acquire a valid title over the property just purchased. Therefore, you will note that at the outset, there appears to be a possibility that since Lady Fotherington Thomas has not acquired the property from the actual owner, the principle of nemo dat quod non habet may well apply to this case to render the sale invalid. However, it must also be established that Bill Sykes did not have a valid authorization from Colonel Cadwallader to sell the violin. In this case, the title on the property that Bill Sykes has acquired through fraudulently posing as someone else is voidable under law.3 But if the voidable title is not avoided by the actual owner before the latter sells it to a third party, then there is a holding out, in which case the new buyer acquires valid title to the property.4 Therefore it would appear that since Colonel Cadwallader has not avoided the voidable title before Bill Sykes has sold it to the violin dealer and Lady Fotherington-Thomas, therefore she does acquire valid title to the property. We may also find support for this position in the law in the form of the rights of buyers in possession5 and Lady Fotherington Thomas may be entitled to retain possession on three grounds (a) Bill Sykes initially obtained possession of the Stradivirus with the consent of the colonel and (b) she received the property in good faith and without receiving notice of liens possessed by

Trafficking in Illegal Drugs and Persons - Essay Example Controling and minimizing cross-border terrorism and illegal trafficking of humans and drugs are the most challenging aspects of transnational crimes. An estimated 600,000 to 800,000 (the numbers are increasing every year) humans in the form of children, teenagers and women and men are the annual victims of this modern-day slavery of human trafficking. These victims of modern-day slavery are subjected to fraud, force or coercion to sexual exploitation and labor. (U.S Dept. of State, 2008) Othe illegal trafficking of humans, today, terrorism together with illegal trafficking of drugs is on the rise. To be able to tackle these issues that pose serious threat to the individual nations and mankind as a whole, a good strategy in terms of policy making is required. Polices that will be able to sufficiently express the predicament of transnational crimes in broader terms, and which will later help stretch the limited budget for the purpose. So in order to put across the urgent need to tackle with these crimes of transnational nature, that can cripple the country from its' inside in much extensive terms, the President decided to focus on three countries. The three countries are- Canada, Iran and France. The focus on these three countries will not provide only with the invaluable insights on how these countries engage in dealing with the three transnational forms of crimes, but also help in gaining the individual countries cooperation. On a global scale the industry of illegal drugs has grown to $400 billion (US $) approximately (Riley D.,1998). This rise in the illegal drugs industry has acted as fuel for organized crime; it has lead to the corruption of governments, violence and distortion of economic markets. Illegal drug trades and drug abuse has always been a crippling feature of the international as well as national scenes. For years attempts have been and are being made to combat the trafficking of illegal drugs and its' abuse, individually and bilaterally. However, these attempts have not been as successful as expected, but it has made the nations realize that the only through which this issue can be effectively handled is internationally coordinated action. The international cooperation to combat against drug abuse and illegal drug trade started in 1961, with the, Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, followed by Convention of Psychotropic Substances in 1971 and the Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances of 1988. (Ludec D. and Lee J., 2003) Canada as a nation is not so much harsh in its, 'war on drugs'. The state has assigned much of its resources and energy to treatment rather than on enforcement. The nation's National Drug Strategy that was first launched in 1987 and renewed after every 5 years stresses demand reduction and increase in efficient treatment programs. In 1990, after it sanctioned the third UN convention of 1988, it made major changes and revisions in its drugs and narcotics related legislations- as to fulfill the international obligations as per the conventions. On 20th June 1996, it adopted the new legislation, Bill C-8, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). The main purpose of CDSA that forms the integral part of Canada's National Drug Strategy is, "to provide a framework for the control of import, production, export, distribution and use of mind-altering

Based on typical hotel organization chart consolidate the Department Heads reports outlining how the hotel will fully meet all the needs of the attendees - Assignment Example The Four Seasons Hotel authorities must ensure security as well as high quality services to the visitors. High quality service delivered to the attendees would help to enhance brand value of the hotel in long run. In the contemporary era, all prominent business organizations operating within the hospitality industry try to improve service quality and customer satisfaction within business. It is found that superior services provided by a hotel helps to increase its aggregate profitability as well as base of loyal customers. Buyersââ¬â¢ loyalty towards a company and satisfaction derived share a directly proportional relationship (Halil and Tanova 33-41). This report would mention that Four Seasons Hotel has an aim to generate 100% occupancy rate from 29th November to 4th December. This is because, in that period of time, foreign delegates from across the globe would visit the hotel for attending the G20 Summit held in Seattle. Thus, in order to achieve the target, the hotel must introduce ways to enhance quality of its service, thereby augmenting customersââ¬â¢ loyalty or satisfaction. In addition to major services, the hotel also offers special business services to visitors. The above list shows various types of commercial services provided by the company, which renders business tours of corporate officials comfortable and convenient. The manager must ensure that all these services are uninterruptedly delivered to the hotel attendees. The accommodations of the hotel are placed on first ten floors. Patient Safety Indicators and Accountable Care Organizations Research Paper - 1
Patient Safety Indicators and Accountable Care Organizations - Research Paper Example However, the standards of these services and patient safety vary from country to country. First world countries that have developed economies have better working strategies to increase patient safety, while third world countries and developing economies struggle with their budgets to come to terms with the safety standards. Patient safety indicators Agency for healthcare research and quality came up with patient safety indicators to identify the potentiality of hospitals to offer best patient safety standards. The administration develops indicators that protect the well being of patients in the institution. Institutions itself has an obligation to provide necessary systems for patient safety in areas of infection control (Fitzpatrick, 2006). Errors that are to be avoided include problems in practice, substandard products, mistaken procedures and faulty systems. The development of patient safety indicators will advance the safety plans in any institution as the patient safety indicato r identifies instances in which a complication of care happened in a specified period of time in the medical facility. Patient safety indicators are generally developed to increase professionalism and avoid problems that may occur during procedures in treating patients. For instance, machines and equipment are given a check up each and every time before being used in treating a patient. They are also given unaesthetic treatment to avoid the transfer of communicable diseases from patient to patient. Similarly, the products and medicine used are certified by the bureau of standards making sure they are fit to be used by patients. Counterfeit products increase the chances of patients losing their lives and having adverse complications. Training and courses offered to medical practitioners are done from time to time to avoid mistaken procedures on patients or problems in practice. For example, there was a case where two theatre patients were mistakenly taken to wrong theatre rooms. One was to be operated a hind limb and the other a front limb but since they could not talk the doctors ended up working on the wrong parts. The additional education prepares the medical workers acquire enough skills in offering the services. Hospitals have acquired a four-step process in evaluating a medical staffââ¬â¢s patient safety indicator. This determines if the worker is fit to work or given more time to train to certify the requirements. The candidate is first given a literature review examination to establish language understanding and communication. Workers who have good communication skills have a potency of understanding what the patients need and are comfortable with. The second part is evaluating the candidate by clinical panels. The clinical panels have a reasonable amount of time with the candidate to establish his or her medical understanding and how to help patents when need arises. The candidate is then given a review by experts and professionals in the medical se ctor. The candidate is tested on the professional tips of the sector and the steps to follow in case a patient has certain complications. Finally, the candidate is given an empirical analysis for completion of the test. The candidate is expected to have a reputable score so as to pass the patient safety indicator. The extensive empirical evaluation and administrative data based algorithms have increased the

Contested masculinities - Essay Example There is a correlation between masculine types during this period and the contemporary American male, in which masculinity is defined by success, strength, leadership and independence. Death of a Salesman represents three types of American masculinity during the Post World War II Era. The American male during this period was perceived as being independent, adventurous, competitive, and a leader, particularly in the home and in the work-place. Willyââ¬â¢s mental decline illuminates the stress men inevitably felt trying to succeed in the land of opportunities and to live up to the ascribed role of man during this period. This is demonstrated through Willyââ¬â¢s struggles with independence and individuality in attempting to become the ââ¬Å"self-made manâ⬠and to meet his obligation to care for his family (McDonough 27) in pursuit of the American dream. It becomes clear that industrialization and family obligations coincide, creating barriers to those ascribed roles, causing conflicts between masculine identity and reality. The war itself forced an emphasis on the powerful male. The question was whether the American man was capable of pursuing successful careers and maintaining stable families and with these questions came the anxiety of living up to this characterization of the American man in the aftermath of the Second World War. In order to understand Wilyââ¬â¢s struggles with this masculine type it is important to view his dilemma in this historical context. What emerges is a generational trend through Willyââ¬â¢s father, his brother Ben and Dave an old salesman. Clearly the idea of the self-made man was as important to masculine social status from one generation to another in America. Willy is influenced by his fatherââ¬â¢s independence and is likewise influenced by the old salesman, although he does not pause to distinguish between the manners in which

A Case Study Analysis, Focusing Upon 360 Degree Performance Appraisal within IKH ZASAG University of Mongolia - Essay Example They feel that owing to the obsolete nature of the appraisal system their performance appraisals would not be done in a perfect manner. Thus it is increasingly felt that a modern system of appraisal like the 360 degree appraisal systems should be put in place which would help in satisfying the needs of the employees. The context of the research was based on the employee circle of a state run University of Mongolia, The IKH ZASAG University. This University holds its pride in reflecting the ancient Mongolian culture as maintained by the Mongol Emperor, Kublai Khan. The 360 degree appraisal system is used in this context to understand the mindset of the superiors towards their employees and subordinate groups. Similarly the appraisal system also appraises the superiorââ¬â¢s work and performance based on the views rendered by the subordinates. Another added feature of the 360 degree appraisal system is the conducting of the appraisal of the employees based on the views of the external stakeholders like customers. Herein, being an educational institution the academic and non-academic employeesââ¬â¢ performances are appraised based on the views of students and their parents. Thus both the management and the employees feel satisfied by the overall process of appraisal conducted by the 360 degree appraisal systems. ... .....18-38 Analysis and Discussions............................................................................38-53 Conclusions and Recommendations...........................................................53-54 Appendices.................................................................................................55-71 Bibliography.................................................................................................72-76 LIST OF TABLES Table Pages 1 The Phases of The Research Investigation 15 2 Usage of 360 Degree Performance Appraisal System 33-34 LIST OF FIGURES 1 Graph Showing Subordinatesââ¬â¢ Responses in Regards to Shouldering the Right Responsibility Page: 40 2 Graph Showing Subordinatesââ¬â¢ Responses Received in regards to Frequency of Happening of Training and Induction Programs Page: 41 3 Graph Showing Percentage of Subordinatesââ¬â¢ Responses Received in regards to the Frequency of receiving Rewards and Criticism Page 42 4 Graph Showing the Rate o f Subordinatesââ¬â¢ Responses Received in regards to the Rate of Growth Opportunities Received by Employees Page 43 5 Graph Showing the Rate of Subordinatesââ¬â¢ Responses in Regards to the Frequency of Appraisal Activities Conducted Based on 360 Degree Appraisal System Page 44 6 Graph Showing Superiorââ¬â¢s Responses in Regards to Shouldering the Right Responsibility Page 45 7 Graph Showing Superiorââ¬â¢s Responses Received in regards to Frequency of Happening of Training and Induction Programs Page 46 8 Graph Showing Percentage of Superiorââ¬â¢s Responses Received in regards to the Frequency of receiving Rewards and Criticism Page 47 9 Graph Showing the Rate of Superiorââ¬â¢s Responses in Regards to the Frequency of Appraisal Activities Conducted Based on 360 Degree Appraisal System Page 48 10 Graph Showing the

Philosophical issus - Essay Example s is mainly because one belongs in, a family may have high standards of behavior code where the members are trained to act and behave in a certain manner which may be very different from others. Kantian ethics auger well with the conception of morality ethical this is because it mainly deals with moral realism, which claims that moral propositions refer to objective facts, which are independent of human opinion. Moreover, ethical subject reflects a close relationship between morality and peopleââ¬â¢s feelings and opinions of some issues creates disagreement of people on correct direct issues that real dispute is not about objective truth but about their own preference(Richard, pp 56-89). According to the social contract theory, in the absence of rules, law, and political order human life would be solitary, poor, short and nasty the element. Personal moral however guides a person on doing what is wrong without being followed by anybody around and prevent them from engaging in immoral activities. (James and Stuart
Functional organizations are described by organizational charts Essay
Functional organizations are described by organizational charts. Explain why a temporary organization such as a project can benefit from using an organizational chart - Essay Example lpful where projects involve various departments and participants who have to coordinate their work or when they are required to report to a person from a different department. Some projects involve working with new faces and one has to learn to recognize these new faces for better efficiency under these circumstances, an organizational chart comes in handy because it not only has the faces of the participants of the project but also their names and their different roles not to mention it provides a constant reference point. An organizational structure helps in better management of resources and personnel by preventing duplication of roles and capacities moreover, it helps reduce the work load of managers and supervisors as it shows the number of people they have to supervise and the various departments that have to report to them. If the project is to take a considerable length of time, an organizational chart is used by project participants to see their promotion options and the vacancies that surround them. This way they donââ¬â¢t have to miss out of opportunities that they can easily take advantage

Identifying a problem ââ¬ÅDrug traffickingââ¬Â Essay Example for Free
Identifying a problem ââ¬Å"Drug traffickingâ⬠Essay This paper studies two different opinions on the impact of drug trafficking laws. One school feels that current laws on drugs have been effective and efficient in containing drug use problem and should be retained. Others see the laws as unjustifiably harsh and skewed against certain groups in society. They argue that drugs should be legalized to help solve abuse problem. The first article gives an open assessment of the impact drug laws have had on drug use problem. The Successes And Failures Of George Bushââ¬â¢s War On Drugs (Check, Dan, 1995). Successive U. S presidents have delivered a plan to fight off drug abuse. President Bush campaign against drug trafficking was similar to that of Ronald Reagan before him. According to Check, their emphasis was on reduction of demand of drugs at home. This was a shift away from curtailing supply in foreign markets. The bush was campaign according to Dan Check targeted the offender rather than the problems. This plan emphasized the incarceration of offenders over rehabilitate and campaigns on avoidance of drug use. The administration boosted its drugs war kitty with the drug law enforcement getting the loinââ¬â¢s share. The penitentiary system also got a substantial amount leaving only a relatively small amount for rehabilitation and a version. Prevention would be carried out through the existing program called DARE. This program targeted school kids. States were bound by this plan and any diversion would attract financial sanctions. This plan has some positive results in that there was significant reduction in cocaine abuse. This effort was felt mainly in the middle class. Check partly attributes this to new realization by the middle class of the efforts of cocaine. The plan however failed in curbing drug use among the poor. According to Dan Check, drug abuse among the poor actually rose with the introduction of the plan. He adds that severe crack down of uses over burdened the prison system. It did not address the root cause of drug trafficking The Drug War on Civic Liberties (Dan Baum, 1992) According to Baum, the war on drugs is an infringement on oneââ¬â¢s rights. The laws are unreasonably harsh and hysterical and hence should be done away with. New laws introduced follow the precedence set by the first drug laws. First drug laws on marijuana and cocaine were retrospective as they were made with a certain group of people in mind. The more recent drug legislation is also made with the black community in mind. This community is the biggest victim of drug law enforcement. These laws are racially motivated. There are more black youth in prison than any other group despite their minority status on drug grounds. They make easy targets of law enforcers. He feels that the drug laws have become petty and harsh to ââ¬Ëoffendersââ¬â¢. Mere possession of drugs even without the intent earns one a maximum sentence. First offenders are not given lighter sentences. Past drug offenses continue to haunt the offender as he or she is labeled as a threat to society and is closely monitored. However what is surprising is that, while the legislations theoretically target drug pusher, it is mainly those who are found in possession who are found in jail. According to Baum, the courts are skewed against offenders in drug cases. The drug laws ensure rather harsh judgments are dished out in federal courts, leaving the judges very small room to maneuver. They also give prosecutors the right to challenge the ââ¬Ëlightââ¬â¢ decisions, which is normally the prerogative of the accused. The cases are not heard in state courts but in federal courts. The penitentiary system does not aim at rehabilitation of drug offenders rather it is pre-occupied with punishment. Expenditure on rehabilitation program fades in comparison with expenditure on drug enforcements laws. Law enforcers unfairly target drug offenders because of the hefty bonuses they earn when they successfully present evidence that leads to conviction of the drug offender. They employ heavy surveillance of past offenders and carry out warrant less searches on a suspectââ¬â¢s property or cars. Baum feels that drug offenders do not enjoy civil right enjoyed by other defendants in courts of law. Their property can be attached along with legal fees of the defense attorney. They are also denied bail to keep the streets risk free. He adds that, the drug enforcement agencies evaluate their success on the basis of overblown value of seized drugs in the black market rather than level of emancipation of the people from drug dependency. The federal government has enhanced its budget on drug law enforcement with the sole aim of jailing offenders over prioritizes the war against drugs over other crucial areas such as environmental degradation. This campaign has bloated the prison system while the judicial system is overworked. More officers are employed to deal with the perceived threats of drug use. Most tax payers are content on increased government expenditure in the war against drugs. This, Baum points out, is as a result of the amount of public information that is available to the taxpayers. The media gives war on drugs a lot of coverage and puts much emphasis of drugs. This is in addition various public campaigns against drug use. Few people express a different opinion on the issue is due to victimization on anybody who speaks out on the injustices of the system by law enforcers. Baum urges that convictions of drug possession are conviction of a crime without a victim. He adds that it is wasting away of productive labor force in the young men held up in prison. Most of those serving time for drug possessions are responsible and peace loving individuals.

I used this software as it is simple to use for setting up and provides the most commonly used spreadsheet package . This means that the most of the people who are able to use the pc and use Excel , and I know that the employees at PC systems who will be using the system can use the software . I collected the data for the spreadsheet by contacting Pc Systems contacting office , materials and extra and for the pc parts and other information I used from the PC Systems website. How to record the macros on the user interface and all pages Firstly I used clip are as shown below to get the pictures for my user interface: Below is how I opened the clipart menu Once the clip are menu is opened I searched for the following items for the pictures to come up that I used for my interface clip art menu The following clip art images I used for my interface as shown below MACROS Once the pictures are in place I now can record the macros I need to navigate around the spreadsheet as shown below . Step 1 : Firstly I needed to click on tools then macro and then record new macro as shown below Step 2 Then I give a name for my macro .eg macro 1 then press OK Step 3 Now you will see a little play and pause button icon as shown below Step 4 Now I have to select the destination of the macro as you can see at the bottom of the worksheets there are named worksheets eg when I made the customer details macro I will do the following as shown below. Once customer details has been selected I then clicked stop on the macro button as shown below . Step 5 once I had clicked stop I then clicked on the picture which was relevant to customer details as shown below then right click on the picture and select assign macro as shown here Step 6 Then once it has opened now I will select the macro I have just made to link it with the button as show below Once macro 1 is found then click OK and the macro works and it links to the customer worksheet. I did this to all my macros which are link on the user inter face as shown below I used the same method on all 4 of them. I also have navigation buttons on the other worksheets to return to the user interface so the user can move around my spreadsheet quick and efficiently. VBA code : Vba code is useful for producing message boxes , and are easy to do as shown below and again they are linked to my picture Help I opened vba up as by pressing ALT, F11 together and this screen should appear: (1) (2) entering the code as shown below into vba . I have included the following message for the user so if they have problems with the software or with any formulas or buttons they can contact the helpline so I can help them and guide them in the write direction . Now right click on the picture as I said before and assign macro and then choose helpline and once it is done the outcome is Now I am going to make an exit button using vba so the user can exit excel immediately and saving there work at the same time .using this button below .this method is used again by right clicking on the picture and assigning the macro as shown below : Then open up VBA as shown above. Now enter the code as shown below Once this coded is entered I linked it with my button as shown in the other example and the out come should be as shown below ..first click on the exit icon then this message box will appear If no then If yes then application quits successfully. Named ranges Once I have entered the stock information into my spreadsheet I need to name the ranges to use them in a v look up .to make it easier for the use to make calculations and search for the criteria needed to run the system correctly Step 1 I highlighted customer details as shown below Then I named the highlighted items customerddd as shown below using the toolbar as shown below :then I pressed enter so that it confirms that the name has been changed and is saved . I used this method to name all of my ranges and named them appropriately. To show all of the named ranges I did the following InserName define Then this toolbox opens showing all the named ranges and the formulas in the specific range as shown below . here you can add names and delete them . V-look ups Combo boxes A combo box sometimes called a drop down box is a list of items from which you can choose one item of data.To open the combo box menu I needed to right click on the mouse and select forms as shown below : Once I have clicked on the forms the menu below opened : As shown above I then selected the combo box item, then I drew the combo box in the correct column to make it look professional as shown below . Once I drew the combo boxes they need to be linked to a Vlookup and I need to format the control to link with the specific sell eg, product number as shown below(2) (1) (2) First I had to right click on the combo box and select the format control as shown below Spinners A spinner button enables you to increase or decrease the value of a number in a cell by clicking the control. firstly I right clicked on the excel tool bar and selected forms as shown below . Then I selected the spinner from this menu choice as shown below . Then I drew the spinner on my spreadsheet as shown below : Then I needed to format the spinner to a specific cell to make calculations as shown below .i firstly right clicked on the spinner and the menu below appeared I then selected format control as shown below and the following message box appeared . Evaluation In my evaluation I will first of all consider each of the end user requirements stated in the specification in turn and my objectives , and evaluate the success of below are my general objectives Start up screen and Homepage buttons and links to all the pages back and forth . I have met this objective as My spreadsheet has a start up screen and various buttons which were requested by the user so the user can move around the spreadsheet efficiently and are able to open and close worksheets also there are 2 other buttons which I used vb code so if the user gets stuck or damages the spreadsheet they contact the help line also there is a save and exit button which will make a back up of the work for future reference and a print button eg. For the output of the invoice as needed which will save a lot of time compared to the old system where everything is done by paper and when a record needs to be found it took a long time and even got lost on the other hand the spreadsheet saves records and time and is much more reliable and efficient compared to the old system Various work sheets such as , hardware sheet ,invoice sheet etc I have met this objective as there are 4 separate work sheets to separate the collection of data (stock) and the output(invoice) 4 separate sheets helps the user move around the interface smoothly as he can open and close the preferred work sheet as needed Automatically store customer details and what they have bought. Once item is bought it is taken away from the stock. Protect the work sheet so no formulas can be altered by the user . Use formulas to calculate total cost and vat etc Labels to help the customer when moving on to a button option boxes to let the user choose the best product eg memory for them Limitations In the system there are various limitations I have recognised. In one of my validations it wasnt accurate as when I typed in incorrect data the error message wasnt displayed . this would then create inaccurate data as the user wouldnt be aware of there mistakes Improvements In the system there are various improvements that can be made to improve the overall system Also to improve my system I would create a separate spreadsheet that contains each customers details of the products they have previously bought and what they have ordered so the end user knows what the existing customers have bought so the user can deciide to give discount for spending so much money etc valuable customer. End user comments I arranged a meeting with mr Anderson who will be using the system to see how he feels about It and helps reduce work load that he originally had to do . I first of all gave the end user a couple of days to familiarise to the new system Here are the end user comments : * The deign is practical and doesnt irate the eyes the colour is restful and doesnt distract the users attention . * Navigation is easy , as is adding and deleting information * Alternating through the worksheets are very easy * The out out of the system (the invoice) are very organise and very consistant * The macros , formulas and v look ups help reduce lots of manual imput which saves time . * There are few errors made as validation used on different data helps keep data accurate and up to date My overall comments I think my design is reliable and easy to use , there are only a few things that I can change and they are mentioned in my improvements , I think I have reduced massed amounts of user input compared to the paper work what they had to do before which took allot of time and effort , also the system looks professional and is very efficient and is very user friendly.
